Five Birds on the Line

Five Birds on the Line

As I was preparing a bird story time for this season, I was looking through our flannel boards. I must have been in the F’s because I started saying

Five Birds on the Line

I looked for this flannel, and we didn’t have one. Huh. Here is the rest of my conversation with myself:

Five Birds on the line / Feeling very fine. One flew away, What do they say?

Hmmm, what do they say?

chirp chirp chirp chirp

Okay…Keep going, how does it end? Is the last bird on the line still feeling fine? Is she sad because her friends left her? I decided that she was still pretty happy to be up on the line, surveying all there is to see…

One Bird on the line / Feeling very fine. She flew away, what do we say? Bye bye birdie

So, I got excited… I looked around for birdie ideas. Inevitably I went to Flannel Friday’s Pinterest page and looked for birds. More than one pointed to Melissa Depper’s blog. So I went there and searched. Did you know that Melissa has a search tool on her blog…you can search blogs and wikis… it’s pretty handy!

So, I searched and discovered that Melissa has a beautiful flannel bird template. It’s stunning. So I was inspired and made these five beauties…

Since I live in Illinois, I made the orange one a robin and not an oriole. Aren’t they beautiful. Melissa’s attention to detail and instructions were wonderful. That girl, she’s going place… My favorite, hands down is the Cardinal. Isn’t it pretty?
